it is a nice mix of available tech

there would be a time lag between making them and having enough folk to mend them where they might be most use, they took the engineers with the vehicle, but as a "concept car" it seems to show ways to remove fossil fuels from smallish transport for those who need a box but need portable infrastructure to power it

i did the maths for the bike and came up with about 3M2 of pv panels to ride 100km a night and charge all day, ride and charge is a non-,
carrying them might be an issue

the roof and wing stuff on a van is more practical than pv on a bike even if it had a trailer

the thing has multiple concepts

for a nomad vehicle the concepts have merit, but the infrastructure might be a problem, much as with the leccy cars and bikes have them in fairly high tech /lots of shops places now
i dread to think what infrastructure issues might occur on a road trip across africa or the stans in a leccy vehicle. strong, old tech stuff is best for old tech places. i could probably adjust a soviet era bike engine to run on tree distalate but making a charger control chip from malian sand would be challenging

if they could make the control stuff from mobile phone parts and the mechanical/electrical things simple but robust etc, it could be a game changer in many places, if they could afford the initial investment

That is very cool.

The only problem I see with solar is and call me cynical, is there would be no energy companies that would be able to profit from providing a means to get the thing to move around.

I would imagine the shape alone turned heads as it is not very usual for camper vans. As proof of concept it is excellent. How easy it would be to make in larger numbers I don't know, but no reason why it shouldn't be easy enough.

There seems to be a lack of interest from car manufacturers in making a number of things at the moment; Utility vehicles rather than SUVs for a start, and there are very few estate cars around. As far as electric agricultural vehicles goes, either no interest or not practical to make any tractor larger than an alpine one.

In spite of more charging points in places like the UK, this still remains a problem if more than a few people in most streets need to use them, particularly on fast charge. It also means buying a new vehicle, which is prohibitive in price to some people, and a waste of resources until a car really needs scrapping. I am hoping our car carries on for a few more years so we can decide whether we are going hybrid or electric. Either is possible for us, but it is the practicalities at the time.
