I found some puffballs earlier in the week, but haven't IDd them yet. Probably edible, but I am rather wary with fungi.

at this time of year i would be very wary of any ball type shrooms

not food covers most, and rather nasty covers quite a few

the only ones i know of as easy id, fairly nice when cooked well and common are giant puffballs which are much earlier in the year

there are many nice or splendid ones at this time of year

the boletes are a good family to get to know, only a few nasty ones, at least half are worth eating, some are among the best eating

We get some boletes, but have never really worked out what they are. The slugs seem to like them anyway.

We have clay with flints over chalk, which can vary from inches to a foot or more thick. The woods has a moderate layer of leaf mould, but not a real build up, so perhaps no more than an inch on top.

We did once find a truffle in a wood across the hill from us, but didn't at the time know what it was, or that we were allowed to forage it; it was a long time ago and we were quite young. As far as I know we don't have truffles, but it is something I have had in mind to make the wood profitable if we could keep others away from them.

700 gm of top quality ceps, and a nice one with a few nibbles out of it that will not notice when they are dried and aired

that patch has over 20 species fruiting at the mo in less than a parking space of tree and turf, amazing spot

i might have a couple of little ones fried, dried is an investment as they improve over a few years in a jar

over a few patches , a middling year, but far better than last year

i am rather looking forward to blewits, salted smoked and pickled for keeping
and the cold weather tree shrooms for right here right now, in garlic butter
