freida is now living with SD and SIL, 12 weeks old bejengi

hilarious animal and charming, she has considerable potential to be a star

in some ways she reminds me of ki at that age and a week into a new life in a new place without 7 adult dogs and her siblings she is starting to fit in and do the "right things"

the first couple of days was "difficult" for mutt and humans, then we gave them a pheromone diffuser plug in thingy, it is an artificial milk bank and adult ear scent compound and had a excellent effect in an hour or so
reducing anxiety from displacement is vital with a new pup, it is not a problem with home made ones, strangers in a strange land need help adjusting.
adopting a stranger toddler of any species is interesting, this one is very well adjusted from her home life(7 household adult dogs+her siblings, she was the last to find her permanent sofa)
adjusting to a new life as a toddler(in human terms) is a two sided thing.
if mutt relaxes rather than has a high stress level from separation etc it is easier for it to adjust

diffuser is good, skullcap and valerian are an option, a sound and steady mutt to befriend and teach it is useful

so far mr chompski has been a perfect uncle ji
as has this werewolf

the difference between a well raised pup, a commodity pup or rescues is massive

i recon i might teach this one stealth when i get to babysit, bad uncle delux.

She looks lovely. We have never had a dog, but know that son's rescue cat took a while to settle and she is still a bit nervous about certain things. Don't teach her any bad habits.

Cassandra has a new dog which is an Australian sheep dog of some sort and very lively. At present Cassandra is trying to train it; some headway is being made, but as much in Cassandras fitness levels as dog training.

She's a lovely looking dog DPack.

They can be great characters. I hope she settles in well and it's nice to hear that her uncles are accepting.

Think most pups are like that. Hopefully she will settle in soon.

I guess they are just full of energy and excitement but it's always nice to give them back

Yep, get the uncles on the job as soon as possible.

a little tense from him, easy from me even if it wriggles like a weasel

she speaks dog which is ideal, i am fluent in dog, i speak and understand wolf and can be made to obey or offer advice in saluki
another canine language would be a step too far

clever, rather well adjusted for a pup in a new life, energetic and will need exercise and "jobs" to do

i will get to know her better when i babysit her on saturday evening

she understood it was time to stop the nipping game if she overdid it in one try

it learns fast, it will return home better every visit

mr chompy needs a fair bit of control to make him a useful part of the process. i am not prepared to rely on his self-control yet, "are you looking at my caterpillar?" might be a difficult conversation

Well it sounds to be going quite well and I'm sure once doggy excitement has abated all will be well.

Enjoy your Saturday night doggy sitting.

I thought basenji do not bark very much, sort of "yodel" instead.

her yawning noise sounds like she was stung by a wasp

very disturbing until i got used to it

chompski was a bit worried he had been replaced in tt's affections, once we swapped mutts calm ensued, he is not bothered if i have a new chum

she is very nice, a puppy with puppy ways and very sharp teeth, but nice and a biddable fast learner

i was not feeling well, she was tired, we snoozed sd and sil were rather surprised when she gave them a sleepy "oh, you, ok" greeting

no one was eaten, she felt comfortable, she is no bother compared to "difficult" ones

bad uncle could teach this one all sorts of fun skills.

From her photo, she looks very alert and interested in what's going on around her, even if a little unsure of herself. Good to hear she's settling down.

New animal noises are fun. We acquired a cat that when hungry emits a noise akin to a bullet ricocheting down a canyon in an old spaghetti western
