old new and clever the principles demonstrated on multiple metrics are splendid this is a good way to make a high and often dry village viable a while back i saw a promising site that was "dry" it might not have been

Looks a bit like the system of leats that were put in on Dartmoor between the 16th and 18th centuries.

I have seen some of those. They were useful in supplying water to various places, but less for storing the water I should think as they are mainly built of the prevailing granite. Otherwise very similar for sure.

Saw a programme about the archaeology of Macchu Pichu, bringing water from the back of the mountain to the front where the town was. Same method
