Anyone ever used 'em? Apparently a very easy method of live trapping rabbits, set the trap at night, harvest your rabbits in the morning.

I haven't been able to find a ferreter, and I don't want people with guns on my land unless I know them. Is this a good way for me to start on wild protein gathering?

Perhaps you should do as Pricey did, and organise a Downsizer Bunny Day of Doom on your land

Would love to, but I just don't have the time. I reckon I could deal with this, set the trap before I turn in on a Fri night, sort 'em out Saturday morning.

It was great fun but I think you need a local person to do the job on a frequent basis if you wish to get ontop of the bunny population. I'm not saying a few bunnies got away on Pricey's bunny day or anything like that, but....

Not heard of anyone using drop traps but of course they'll need to be checked without fail.

I'd only set if I knew I'd be able to check them the next morning.

Doesn't really tell you much about 'em except that they exist and are legal.

Does this help, at all?

https://www.rabbittrap.co.uk/use.htm

I mean, I know it is an advertising ploy and all, but it might have some more info.

hiya guys i do al the rabbit chasing bit from snares to .22 night shoting ,also used drop traps you need to fence the area then allow a few "gateways " for the rabbits to use put your 24x 24 boxes in the ground and lock the box closed ,the rabbits will get used to using them after a few days when you see rabbits on the land you want to keep clear set the boxes on open. BE WARNED I FOUND AN ADDER IN ONE. IF I HAD NOT CHECKED BEFORE BY LOOKING IN AND PUT MY HAND IN TO ROOT AROUND I WOULD HAVE BEEN BITTEN also you catch rats etc so take an air rifle with you ,i used these traps ona caravan park and had the population down by 70% over winter.we could not shoot on that site and it was to old a warren to ferret succesfully,.incidently i am a keeper and pest controller and getting permision to shoot and ferret is very hard, .ringing at the wrong time does not sit well when i am eating my first meal of the day or at at 10pm in the summer but calling after sending a letter will hopefully secure you a spot of ferreting or pidgeon shooting , so dont let me put you off ,just be thinking first ,do you like folks calling you when your having your dinner?

We've got some very well worn rabbit paths, obviously rabbit motorways, could I just stick s drop trap in one of them?

What about warning people, I assume you may catch your foot in one and even if they are not where near footpaths or public spaces that doesn't seem to matter much these days.

I don't think I'd do it till next winter by which time the hedges will have formed a fairly decent barrier from the footpath

snares also work .
shooting , dawn dusk and when you see a bunny aint a bad idea though .
if you can work out where and when they are ,long netting gets lots in one go
casserolled with beans is nice . a couple of hours softens them a treat

drop trapss need putting as close to the cover the rabbits will go to as possible , they dont need putting anywhere in the fields or tractors could fall foul of them or as you say feet ,trespassers or no use the fencing runs to do it or a temporary fence is the use of the bright orange plastic fencing that builders use ,you can even direct the rabbits back to the drop traps by using a chevron with the trap at the point, long netting is ok on a perfect night ,but how many perfrct nights do we get .i have 500 yds which i use to block net then wrok the ferrets inside the block with purse nets ,i went .22 as i do every friday nite and had a great nite
