There are fish by pass weirs in some places that have low enough steps for migratory fish to climb. These are mainly things like salmon and trout I think, and they can jump.
One of the roads near us has a frog crossing warning sign at the moment. I think they must cross at night, as I have never seen any. I know volunteers do go to some major frog and toad crossings and give the things a hand across the road.
