Have a look at CCL for parts and complete PCs. I know nothing about this but a mate who does built us a lovely new PC that does lots of things beyond my comprehension for 270.

Depends if you take them apart every now and again too, I tend to rip mine apart regularly so I like having a good case that's conducive to such tinkering.

Doesn't that upset the tiny demons who do the sums?

Dell have extended their free delivery offer, if it's any use. Should work at the dell outlet too.

EXTENDED! Offers valid on ALL DELL Dimension PCs and DELL Inspiron Notebooks
Due to End 13/01/2005.

Though it is of course worht remembering that it will be a cold day in hell when the latest "must end soon" offer, is not swiftly replaced by a cheaper one

I've had a good look around and Dell now have a good offer on, just double memory. A 15" sharp TFT added to a reasonable system looks a good bet for us. However, they do not seem to guarantee a delivery date. They give you a day but subcontract out the delivery and the delivery companies round these parts are terrible. No point taking two or three days off work waiting.

I had a look at large PC shop and found that the TFTs were very variable but found a good system. So good that they'd sold out and are not getting any more in.

Next option is to think about a Tiny base system if I can pick it up from a shop. AMD 64 3400+, 512MB DDR memory, 200 GB ATA-100, 16x DVD writer, 128mbGeForce card, full size 300 Watt ATA case with 7 bays, Windows XP, Keyboard and mouse. All for 499 and I'll find a good TFT. This seems cheaper than one I could build with plenty of room.

Anyone had a recent Tiny PC or can anyone recommend a good TFT?

Well I've ordered a Dell as it seemed the best deal for us. I noticed the trick questions at the end of the order, is the PC for 'Home use', 'Missile Research', 'Nuclear Research' . No downsizing option.

Third most ethically sound producer according to ethicalconsumer.org, so acceptable for accessing this site as well.

How the heck to they judge that, Sun has engaged in some very sharp corporate practices.

I think they probably all have, and I didn't actually read the article in full. I think they're mainly judged on environmental grounds.

It sort of highlights the problem of just who you deal with in the real world

The issue it highlights more than anything is how difficult it is to rate the ethical credentials of anything.

Especially with all the propaganda, have you seen all the Shell adverts about how nice they are to the environment?
