It's been suggested to me that I ought to be Bugs rather than bugs, partly cos it's more grammatickal looking, like wot I orter be, partly cos it's funnier to pretend that Bugs is my real name.

So - if I go ahead and change my name in my profile will everything be OK? I won't break my previous posts or be thrown out of the site?

I've already changed my email address quite merrily and that was fine, but I thought I'd check on this one.

Theoretically you will be perfectly okay, I'd like someone to try though as this is in a "hacked" area of code

Ah. It doesn't seem to like the idea. I get "your profile has been updated" but it still shows me logged in as bugs...I log out and I can log back in in any case I like, and when I go back to profile it still shows bugs.

I tried bugsie as well but that doesn't seem to make any difference - it just reverts back to bugs.

Not to worry. Never did ee cummings any harm

I think people are fairly unlikely to want to change their usernames.

It should be possible, quite a few people have done it on the RC forums for various reasons. BUT they had to get MarkD to do it for them, so I've no idea how to go about it. Like so many computer-based things.

It is actually an admin option, do we allow username change or not? it was set not to.

I can't see the harm in allowing name changes

Didn't even see the need to debate the point, seems such a fascist measure to stop people.

No, I just said don't worry because it seemed a fairly small thing, but then, as it was easy to change it's nice to have the option.

It could get a little confusing, but I doubt there's anyone here as childish as me.

Although it is amusing to see Marvin the Martian moderating What's On.

It's very tempting and it makes me laugh but I think I'd better go back to being me. Bugs is suitably multi-definitioned (a nice contrast to my one-sided personality).

Ah well, it was fun while it lasted.

Marv...
