A few points; rabbits, grey squirrels and even our brown hare are non-native I assume you would be happy to eradicate them?

Some pest controll is a legal requirement of the land owner.

One of the problems with magpies as well as foxes is that they are well suited to living with the mess humans make of things so I think you can justify controlling them. It would be great to remove humans from huge tracks of the country but that could be going a little too far.

Perhaps now wouldn't be a good time to mention that a recent study has concluded that foxes suffer more now that hunting with hounds has reduced the number of foxes culled by hounds.

The concept of hunting with hounds brings the idea of hunting for pleasure to my head so its never a good time to bring it up in my eyes. I hate the thought of anyone doing any kind of hunting for pleasure.

I went on an archaeological field trip to a medieval rabbit warren - have a feeling it was where the only gay in teh village lives (a lovely ancient place by the way)

A 'good head shot' Hmm.

At what distance?

Well my Air Arms 410 can stick a 177 on a 10 piece upto 40yrds all day every day, and will put a pellet through both sides of a bunnies skull at 30yrds.

Wasn't this tread about shooting bunnies with night vision??

My AA TX 200 HC can do the same normally before I go out on a hunt I make sure my rig is placing pellets in groups of 1 inch at 35-40 yards.

It was about night hunting with a NV rig but it has become a very interesting thread!

Got a TX200HC too, best airgun full stop. Not quite as accurate with it as my 410 but no hassle with air tanks etc, much nice to shoot than the 410 though, less clinical

I had 410k nice gun, acurate etc but far too light for me I like a gun with a bit of weight behind it, the 410 felt like it would break easily, silly but thats what I thought.

The Romans brought bunnies, but if I remember correctly those rabbits never really got naturalised (Italian rabbits, suited to warmer climes). It was the Normans who successfully introduced rabbits, wasn't it?
