Don't expect all the animals in the catalogue to be there though, some of the withdrawn ones have still been printed, presumably to make it look better.

If anyone wants to pay the prices for a few Dexters, and then offer me them at a good price in a few months time, I'm open to offers

We went a couple of years ago, and it was quite good. Weren't in a position to buy at that stage. Masses of poultry, with local young tikes going round and pinching the newly laid eggs out of the cages!

We had a good time there was a spectacular display of poultry but we left early so I couldn't come home with a load of weaners.

There was one Welsh boar which was the last pig to be sold - he was born in Jan 2006 and was also the Great York Show breed champion I think the auctioneer mentioned.

He went for 250 gns

Regards

Cris

Thanks for keeping an eye out. Thats a very low price for a good boar, the seller will probably be dissapointed with that price, i know i would be.

Well, he looked like a good boar (but then everyone thinks that their own stock is the best - I know I do)!

There were three or four people in the bidding.

Like all livestock auctions, there were very few what I would call 'very good' animals - all the very good stuff never makes it to auction and gets sold privately anyway.

However, a scrawny 16 or 18 month-old Belted Galoway heifer from the Templeson herd made 1000. Staggering really as it didn't look up to very much. Having said that, I bought a Gloucester heifer from the same herd in the Spring sale and she's come on in leaps and bounds.

true he may not have been very good. But a good welsh boar is fetching double that at the moment down here in wales.
