I imagine it's some sort of highbrow snobbery...they wouldn't sully themselves by doing anythin as vulgar as getting paid for appearing on tv (well that's what Gervase told me)

I don't take a daily paper here, but I've started getting the Observer which is much the same thing.
Radio 4 for information, 6music for, erm, music
BBC2 and Channel 4 for TV.

Aye, for us R4, Beeb 2, Channel4, Guardian and the Observer are the staple diet...

Hi,

I am the crazy fool who had the idea to set up the Chilli Farm and the restaurant.
For those that saw the program, you will have seen all of our trials and tribulations.
We did it for several reasons, one was to have someone help us record the event in our lives and keep it for posterity and the other was for publicity to help launch the business.
We were not paid anything by Channel 5 - we were simply "contributors".
Would we do it again? Hmmm... if we thought about it too long, then maybe we would have been put off.
Would we recommend other people follow their dreams? ALWAYS

Regards

We have been growing Chillies for fun for about 10 years and it sort of got out of hand. After spending 9 years in IT as a consultant travelling around Europe and missing lots of time with our young family we decided to set up the Chilli Farm.
We found a place with an old barn and started off with the idea of a coffee shop for visitors, but then afte we started spending too much money on the project it ended up as a restaurant!!

We need more than a teaser

We want the fully Monty.

Heck I'm an I.T. consultant myself and find the idea of juggling a project and doing the restaruant mind boggling!

Hello Chilli - I am sure I saw a bit of this but quite some time ago - good luck to you - I think it is a great idea.

Just out of curiosity how did you here about Downsizer?

Welcome Chilli. Am shocked that no-one is getting paid by these TV companies -- I expected it of the BBC, but thought the commercial ones would cough. What a nerve

I know you get publicity, but they get a very cheap programme.

Sorry, but it seems that these guys do not pay for their stories, so I guess some people do it for posterity and business publicity (like us) and others do it for their own personal reasons.

Juggling IT work and a busy restaurant and Chilli farm is (at times) a bit of a nightmare! Although it is necessary for the time being to pay for the slight slippage on the budget

We heard about Dowsizers from one of your members who sent us a message and told us about it.

We started the farm to be together as a family and stop having to travel around Europe all the time. Although I would like to say we downsized im monetary terms (but we didn't), we have however downsized from the point of view of income as we feel that the family life is more important than the extra money that a stressful job can bring.
