CURRIED goat not goat curry innit mon

Catsrated males with Scots bonnets ...

I suppose if someone is looking for a couple of lawn mowers and hedge dismantlers then this couple would be OK if you're into that sort of thing.

I do hope these people have good liability insurance in case of straying.

Also wonder why they are looking for a new home.

I wonder if people let their emotions run away with them and get animals like this try to keep them as pets and then realise they cannot cope when the goat (in this instance) does natural things like trashing stuff!

Same problems with those Vietnamese piggie and Kune Kune piggies that were fashion items not long ago.

Hope the goats get a good home though or at least go somewhere that knows what to do with them.

I would have thought there would be goat meat supplier round Cardiff area these days? Try asking in one of the shops run by the Asian families, they are bound to know where the best suppliers are to be found.

YUM YUM Kune Kune meat is so so sweet by far the best pig meat avaliable. Sadly ours has run out. So any pet pigs owners with problem pigs give me a shout.

OOOh you will start WW3.

More about them, what weight do they kill out at? What type of cuts do you get from a kune kune?

Has anybody eaten Vietnamese pot Bellied piggies/

IIRC someone told me they were rather fatty.

Honestly! talk about hannibal the cannibal!

My last hen likes whiskas chicken in jelly little tart, doesn't lay eggs anymore just dosses about with the cats and dogs looking for all her mates that Charlie fox murdered.

if she wasn't a shaver she'd be stock, but she survived two attacks (and that was through a proper electric fence set up ..) so she deserves to wander crapping round the barns and playing "I am NOT a chook"

Contarty to popular belief Kune Kunes will kill out at the same (neigbour has one that must weigh over 300kg) weights as other pigs they just take longer to get to weight. You will get the same joints as any other pig. They can be fatty if over fed (so nearly all pet pigs then).

last time I was in there ZemZems (near the Mackintosh pub up behind the university, can't remember which road) had it and Global Foods usually does. Havent bought it though so couldnt comment on where its sourced or things like that. Also, sometimes there is a goat supplier at the Riverside farmers market, and there isa goat farm up Blackwood somewhere I believe

And of course, there will also be me
But not until late next year, probably

I have just had my three Boer goats mated. In five months time, I will have sweet little kids bouncing around the place.

Six months (at least) after that, I will have meat for sale

Never mind, I managed it with the lambs.

Boer goats are bred for meat, unlike most goat meat available, which is the result of unwanted male kids from milking herds.

Boers tend, then, to have much more meat on them. Let me know if you want to wait until 2008 for your goat curry.

Anna-Marie,
Do you know what the goats are like from a boer x nubian? Are they more "boer" like for eating?

Hi Suzie,
Sorry for taking so long to reply. I've been away for a few days, delivering a lamb to my parents, for Christmas.
As far as I know, several goat owners have bred milking goats to Boer goats, in order to improve the meat yield, so the same should apply to Boer x Nubian.
Apparently, not only is there more meat from the resulting offspring, but it is also much tastier.
Hope this is helpful.

Thanks for the reply Ann-Marie.
I'm still looking for a place at the moment but it looks like we can only afford to get a place with a couple of acres - not enough for a cow, so a goat it will have to be. I couldn't bring myself to euthanase a male kid at birth so would need to rear for meat hence the question about the boer cross. Need to have all the info I can before I buy

Suzie, a couple of acres will support a Dexter (or even two)

Goats are herd animals, so you will need to have at least two. They get very lonely on their own.

If you decide to keep Nubians, I can put you in touch with some-one who has a Boer billy to mate them to, if you like.

Good luck in finding the right home.

Best wishes,

Anna-marie
