This is in the news at the moment because of the major exhibition that opened yesterday (I think) in London, on knitting. I think it's by the Crafts Council or something similar - I heard about it on Today (R4), but haven't looked up the details yet. They ahd a couple of knitters in the studio doing a live knit-in to knit a logo for the Today programme. I didn't hear the outcome, as I got up!
Back at the end of the 70s/early 80s there was a vogue for knitted jewellery, etc, which was good fun - crown jewels, etc. I remember knitting plants - cacti and pansies; they were very effective, and made good presents. Must knit a cacti again The machine knitting club of Sherborne did all the bits for Graham Norton's show when it was on. Anything can be knitted, and i have had some strange-ish requests myself in this department Good fun, though, and a challenge. |
