Mornin' all.
My home insurance is up for renewal and like everything else I would like to take this opportunity to go ethical. Anybody know of any ethical insurance companies?

Maybe a little off topic but I have often thought if it would be possible to set up some sort of your own scheme. For example, it is widely said that extended warranties are not worth the money. People suggest you put the money into a pot from several purchases and use it to pay for repairs. Fine if you buy a lot, but not if you only buy a single item.

If you have a large family or a number of good friends it would make sense to form some form of warranty club where everyone pays into a fund. Other insurances could be covered and then you're on the road to forming your own friendly society. (I leave jema to suggest a downsizer one).

I bet there is a bucket load of regulations though, and once you go beyond very close family, the potential for horribles problems is really scary

I'm not sure. I may have a look into it one day, would seem an interesting idea. Especially if it could be merged with people helping out etc, almost another part of the bartering systems.

Trying to prevent the odd person taking advantage may be a problem.

Quality idea. Think I may be at a loss trying to get any family to see the good in it though. They all seem to have too much money to burn.
