Just wondering if you can help me on this one, are there any British firms designing and manufacturing solar panels, the only companies I've come across so sell foreign equipment.

I thought their panels (or at least evac tubes) were chinese ?

It doesnt make sense financially to meke the things here.

But does the OP mean PV or solar water ?

Don't think so Mark.

Perhaps you are confusing Thermomax with Navitron (who do sell less sophisticated, but still heatpipe-based, evacuated tube collectors that are made in China)?

Really the UK isn't a manufacturing country any more. And some areas, like silicon wafers for solar pv, we have no presence in at all. There may be people encapsulating wafers into weatherproof enclosures here, but does that matter?

Rather than manufacturing, these days the country does "systems integration" - taking a bunch of bits that other disparate folk have made, and make them work together. Then we stick a union jack on the final system...

Doesn't matter either way.
