one of those buzz words I've heard for a while without really knowing what it was about, then I found their website. Afaict it's community level banking that cuts out the banks. sounds good, has anyone tried it or knows someone who has?

I've heard of it but don't know anybody whose used it. still not 100% convinced about it.
But if you're worried about bankers being all bad can I recommend my bank.... they are actually people who speak to you and help!
