Book lists/recommendations are always good. There's supposed to be a sticky of recommendations at the top of every forum.

Can I recommend Aerosmith at full volume on a personal stereo while having teeth extracted? It sure spared me the sound effects of tooth on metal and I couldn't hear myself groaning
