Looks good though.... Now, if you made the buttons on the menu a bit deeper, changed the background colour to the same as the logo, and made the text pale.......

Then moved the search function to the top right of the middle bit, where the articles are.....
I'm on a roll.....

Here goes, no particular order, just a general spiel on what I like and dislike on the front page and the forums.

I like the colour now. The logo I did earlier today used #336600 I think but will have to check, which is very close to it but websafe.

I think the logo with all the pictures is too fussy and bandwidth heavy which is why I was trying a simpler logo - no comments on it though?

I like the light pastel colours with the dark greens.

I think the front page looks way too cluttered. It's getting there with the reduced text about the forums posts, and now the poster has been removed it addresses the issue I think tahir made about it looking like tahir and jema were the only people here.

In terms of the main central section, like it, like the colours, like the font size.....which leads me to I think the font size is too big in the forums an dshould be the same as the main site.

I think the sections should be clearly distinguished. I'm quite happy with a redesign of the buttons for the sections on the home page.

Some sort of heading for the articles (at the moment "popular") with an appropriate icon and the same for the forum posts (with a different icon). Something that makes it obvious what each link (or at least section of links) does.

When you get into the forum, "latest" should be obvious that it's articles again (by the title and icons)), but this time latest rather than most popular and I think I'd prefer buttons for the forum actions, but the "main" items should match those on the front page.

Sorry I've gone into a sort of rant style - hope it makes sense - I'm happy to clarify anything if it doesn't, as I am to provide a few more logos or buttons if it helps.

Hope that's all OK and gives people some food for thought, or at least something to comment on!

Agree, but it's a lot better than what we had so should we leave it till some of the people that are working on logos have submitted something? I've received back one (quite good one) so far, and there are a few others on the way.

Agree, there's a lot of fiddly bits, but how to declutter?

Sounds OK, just wanted to be sure people weren't afraid to remove it or comment on it, just because I'd done it. I'm very thick skinned and can take CONSTRUCTIVE criticism!

One more thing I just thought of - I'd like the main menu to remain in the top left from the home page to the forums, more continuity, things are where people expect them, rather than jumping about.

Some of the terseness like "Latest" is because of the font size. Shall I reduce this a bit? I am inclined to agree it is a bit big.

To hammer home my point about the top banner - it takes up about 1/4 of the depth of my "real estate" so only 3/4 is being used for content - I think it ought to be less.

The terseness is OK, but I'd be happy if there was an article icon and a forum post icon to denote what things were.

Certainly concur the logo should be smaller.

But I like it, TBH was not at all keen on the plain one.
