my mare killed my London Pride by emptying her bladder over it, in the drive.

well I have been out and noticed that the drive is made up of concrete slabs...there are 7 in all so each day I will do one section length of the wall. By the end of the week I will show you the improvement.

I'm with Nettie on the scabious, we bought a couple of plants two years ago and they had an extraordinary long flowering time.

Thanks Sean....have PM'd you. The Ivy is quite prominent so did most of the clearing by hand as I didn't want to kill it. Am really excited now! D

Cheers nettie! What started as a negative day turned well round! We were hanging around waiting for pals to make decisions about going out on motorbike..............in the end we stayed home and i took 3 toyota pick up loads to tip! Mind you good choice..chaps there all helped to unload pick up.............other guys there were left to unpack on their own! Imust have looked like I was weak!!!

Anyhow....hubs busy cutting down hedges and the likes. Tomorrow out again.oh and we have some starlingsbuilding a nest in an airbrick so we have some company!

Hiya SL did another section today, put some round up on next section. Am really enjoying it. Hubs doing hedges....took 5 pick up fulls of rubbish to tip!!!

Denise, m'dear: if there's a sunny bit, you can plant houseleeks (Sempervivum) into the face of the wall. Really beautiful with evergreen rosettes in a range of colours: green, grey/lavender, maroon, red&green... and then they have shoots of yellow, pink or white star flowers in summer. Big faves of mine, they take almost no work and look great. Particular favourites are: 'Sir William Lawrence' pale green with red tips, small globby rosettes; 'Engels' grey/lavender and softly hairy; 'Spring Mist' sagey green with a blush. Having said that, there are about 400 cvs, so lots to choose from! If you want to know more, mail me, poppet.

Wow worked at the other end today and clipped the ivy which was trailing on the ground. Only 3 more to go now. There is a metal fence directly behind the wall. It belongs to the field on the other side, ie a few horses pop their heads over.so I was wondering if sweet peas would be suitable right at the back of our wall? ie they would grow up the fence...any suggestions/thoughts? Will post some pics at the end of the week.
