Denise, m'dear: if there's a sunny bit, you can plant houseleeks (Sempervivum) into the face of the wall. Really beautiful with evergreen rosettes in a range of colours: green, grey/lavender, maroon, red&green... and then they have shoots of yellow, pink or white star flowers in summer. Big faves of mine, they take almost no work and look great. Particular favourites are: 'Sir William Lawrence' pale green with red tips, small globby rosettes; 'Engels' grey/lavender and softly hairy; 'Spring Mist' sagey green with a blush. Having said that, there are about 400 cvs, so lots to choose from! If you want to know more, mail me, poppet. |
