If I wanted to grow a cannibis plant, how would I do it?

You need lots of heat and light for a start.

Have you tried googling? Many years ago I lived with someone who had a hypothetical interest in setting up a hydroponics system and there was lots of information readily available out there, plus sites that recommended and/or sold kit.

You need lots of heat and light for growing them for the narcotic effect. They'll grow quite happily in pots on the patio but tend not to produce the flowering buds.

Flowering buds are important?

I have heard so, without them you have lots of leaves which have a mild effect, I'm told, but not as strong as the buds/branch tips that are illegally sold. Even growing a few plants is a very serious offence. You can grow hemp varieties for a variety of applications, the fibre being very strong and have a high U value. You can buy panels to use in building.

Only if you want to grow them indoors away from prying eyes. They grow quite happily in pots of compost on the window sill, or in the garden, or in veg beds, or even in the compost heap. So I understand...

It depends exactly what your purpose is in growing it. If you are just interested in the pretty shaped leaves, I believe that there are certain varieties that will grow outside in a corner of the garden and not need the heat and light - I think that there are mountain varietals. I also believe that it's still illegal to germinate any kind of variety, for any purpose, without a special licence - even including hemp for rope.

I guess it comes down to wether you have high hopes or just want to get tied up in the process. If the latter, I'd suggest roping someone in to help.

And if the former, don't make a hash of it

Conservatory if you don't have visitors---greenhouse if you don't have nosey ones---loft with light otherwise---seeds probably come with growing instructions anyway
