A friend of mine and I saw a stag beattle on the Upper Richmond Road near Jim Thompsons, in fact she nearly stood on it screamed and ran off. It was possibly the largest speciman I have ever come across! Amazing really as it had just crossed a main road without being squished!

Did you pick it up and move it out of the way? When I saw my first live one a few years back I moved it off a busy path as people do seem to tred on 'em. Apparently they'll not harm you but thier jaws do look like they could give you a bad nip.

I found one laying on its back by a busy road, wasn't sure if it was OK but thought I would move it to the side of the path which bordered a park.

But I was afraid to pick it up so I touched it with my foot, to let it grip on, and I could actually feel it pull (alright, don't be silly, no, it didn't pull me to the ground, but it was definitely tangible).

Once it had a grip I hopped to the side of the road with it holding on and pushed it off against the park railings.

It's a good thing I have no pride in how others see me, isn't it?
