Does anyone have any experience of using this type of device?

I have a PicoScope from PicoTech. Very good value for money.

I've also got one of these.

The PicoScope 2205 has been recommended to me - it has AWG too which would be pretty darn handy at the moment.

Edit - oops, wrong link - fixed.

Would you like to borrow the one I have to try out first?

V kind VP - thanks. Hold that thought though - I'll probably not be round your way for a while, and may make a decision on this soon. If I don't though, I may take you up on your offer at a future date - or indeed invite myself round for a demo.

If you want a cheap datalogger for 25 try

Some great electronic projects there. PM me if you want to know more, I have built a number of their devices. PICAXE chips are amazing, easy to use microcontrollers.

Ta, but not really what I'm after. I need to analyse and debug waveforms on the wire in high resolution.

I've got a use for that kind of stuff at the moment but what I want to know is how could I connect one of those to the mains. I want to see the noise, signal and attenuation in a data signal carried over mains and I have a strong suspicion that with switch mode power supplies all over the place these days I'll see phenomenal noise levels. (and just as a personal project I'd also like to play with one just to try some wave form analysis on music)

The PDS7102T was also recommended to me. Beyond what I need, but perhaps better suited to high voltage analysis.

We've opted for the PicoScope 2205 after all:-

Two ordered earlier.
