I would go get them and put them in ready-warmed up incubator, they will have had their 24 hours resting time too by now

OH is reading up about chicken keeping and measuring timber, and what he does he does quickly and with determination so - yes, I'm expecting chicks, just don't know what, where, how many and when yet

We have 5 surviving chicks toddling after two broodies, 6 eggs under a goose and are avidly watching the remaining 18 hens wanting some of them to go broody before the rest of the goose eggs are too old to hatch.

Sorry to go off a bit but can you put eggs under a broody hen at late July without having to many problems.

Yes, that would be fine. Any particular reason for asking?

Because I want to start breeding but I can't do it now because my cockerel ain't old enough. Also I have not that much time at the moment and the summer holidays began at late July.

Is he not treading already? I would have thought that given the chance he'd be all over the ladies ...

I know. Although he could be younger as he is growing his tail feathers back, there only about 1cm at the moment.
