I think Snowball summed it up quite eloquently upthread:

You obviously aren't going to change your opinion - so what I think, or anyone else thinks doesn't actually matter, does it? You'd clearly rather force everyone to change their own settings to accommodate your preferences than go along with a majority vote that has been discussed before.

Chez 24/2000 or even 24/500 (how many active readers and posters are there really?) is not a majority. And settings changes that are very simple and allow enjoyment of the whole internet for one change is, in your opinion, unhelpful?

Oh and Chez I'm a vegetarian, I could find it offensive that you keep talking about killing chickens. I expect I can find 23 people on here who agree....

Yeah, go on then. Set up a poll and see what happens if that'll help you get over yourself.

If enough people wish to have another vote, then we can do that.

If there are plenty of responses to this thread perhaps it's that time again, Penny. I still don't like them, but that's just a personal thing.

ETA I don't think it's worth falling out about, though. And pressing ESC doesn't work on a Mac...

Why do the losers in a vote assume that non-voters are on their side? Non Voters DON'T CARE, so they are irrelevant to either side.

I do agree that the policy on non-moving avatars should be included in FAQs, but that's a matter for the forum administrators. As I said

Can we have one about banning talking about chicken-killing, as well?

Exactly. Just because one person has got their knickers in a twist because they've been asked to comply with a majority decision does not, IMO, mean that another vote is necessary.

I fit had been a long time ago then perhaps it would have been worth re-visiting, but as it hasn't then we won't

Dear God. There must be better things to do and support than banging on about moving images avatars being some sort of oppressed minority group...

Um, no, I wasn't. I chose to offer choices....after receiving a PM which was nothing to do with "remove". There is a world beyond DS and it works on all of them too.

And the huge number of non-voters...it does depend on where the vote was put doesn't it? Signing off on holiday now.

The person who sent gekkko a PM warning of the possibility of getting unpleasant PMs because of her moving avatar must be wetting themselves with glee at the way their little wind up has panned out... I hope they get nappy rash.

Mods, would it be possible to state this policy in the joining instructions or somewhere similar? I think gekkko's comment on that is fair enough and it would perhaps prevent any more wranging over the issue.
