I've just taken my clump of raffia out of the shed in order to tie up some vines. Luckily I just tugged one end as I noticed a wasp, then another, then... In all I removed 5 living wasps from something I could have easily grabbed with my bare paw.
So, take care when using something from a dry outside shed, you never know what has spent the winter in it.
I assume they were all queens as that's the only living wasps you would find at this time of year. They didn't seem that large or I'd have bagged them up and and sent them to cab.
