There does seem to be a glut of plums, mirabel plums and cherry plums this year... have managed to collect another 10lbs of them this morning and will soon be stoning them and stocking up the freezer
I hate you all (in the nicest possible way of course ). Stuck in kenya and missing all the fruit. I know I should probably stop complaining but I just can't help myself. I am having serious foraging/preserving withdrawal systems.
Lots of plums in my garden after disasterous year in 2008, hoping this has something to do with the careful pruning! Exactly the same for our apples too, so I thought last year the wet weather was causing the problems, but this year the fruit seems to be benefitting.
Unfortunately I've missed the first of the blackberries in the hedge - we are lucky to have blackberry weed plants which have incredibly sweet and juicy fruit - because the children have spotted them first and couldn't get enough of them until all were gone! There are thousands of green ones waiting for me next month though...
