Need to get some AF spanners. Where's the best place to hunt? I have access to Halfords and B&Q, but their websites don't look too promising. Are they that hard to find? We've a couple of discount tool warehouses in town, but I'm guessing they'll be cheap and might not cope.

Hanging round auction rooms has to be sensible?

Nope, runs just fine. Needs a few bits for the MOT and tomorrow#s the first day I've had.

I'm deeply envious. What you really ought to do is shoehorn the 2.5pi engine into it.[/i]

Naw. What I should do is get it up and running, legally. 1500 engine is just fine. Then, tart it a bit, wait for a very sunny weekend, and eBay it for double what I paid, and get a Stag, with a Stupid Engine in it.

Are they something Triumph specific?

If so, I'll ask my brother. You may need to wait as he's busy on the boat tours at the moment. (Start of the hols and parents aren't fed up with the kids yet)

At the railway we use Cromwell Tools for spanners, we use Whitworth, but they do AF as well. They aren't the cheapest on the market, but on the other hand you don't want a spanner breaking in your hand and throwing you into the pit under the locomotive!

Otherwise, try any good engineering supplier

Get to a second hand tool shop. I got a stanley brace and twelve second hand bits for a tenner the other day. Loads of old spanners there. If you struggle with specifics give me a shout- its an Alladins cave of old tools.

Ask someone's Dad. They are bound to have a toolbox with rusty AF spanners in them.

What sizes are you after? I've got heaps, but many of them are bigguns. If I've got some that match your new toy you're welcome to the curses of your postman as he delivers a clanking box of spanners.

Most boxes from someone's shed have 3 cow-jawed spanners, one that's been ground out to an odd size, plus a couple that are bent and one that's got a hidden fracture in it! - Oh and a hammer with a loose head, a file with no handle and a hacksaw with no teeth.

Yep Halfords or any independant motor spares shop will stock them. Or places like Machine Mart:
