I really like this programme, firstly I get to insult Gordon Ramsay with impunity whilst drinking wine. Secondly I get a warm feeling that my cooking is far better than most head chef's....as long as I don't have to cook for more than six people in a sitting.

I have to admit, I get a huge voyeuristic kick out of the program

I was bound to post today about last nights, I loved it when he told the chef that being a Pratt was better than being a lying Pratt

Deep fried Bacon and deep fired new potatos and a 40+ item menu I still find it staggering the way places can totally lose the plot.

The clueless bloke last week reminded me of so many new start ups that I've seen in my business it's untrue, unfortunately the food business seems really glamorous and margin rich, the truth is that like anything else if you want to do really well then it's al about blood sweat and (probably) tears

I loved it when the chef got caught out for frying the spuds, he still insisted they were roasted after they found leftovers in the fryer and the oven was bust. And then they got the comis chef who admitted he had been told to fry them all. Cringeworthy!

i really enjoy food, yet i am constantly disappointed by the cook-chill-microwave rubbish i am served when i eat out, yet the "must have it now" attitude of consumers make it a least a little easier to understand.
Example i was recently in a little pub/restaurant i like a great deal, its one of those guilty secrets you keep from other people, i'm sure you know what i mean, when a bloke who i saw drive in, in a BMW Z3 (just to set the scene) started to shout at the waitress that he "didn't expect to pay twenty pounds for a dish an expect it to take half an hour" after the assembled patronage had made it known he wasn't welcome here (cassie the waitress is both adored by everyone and john the chefs daughter...d'oh) we found out he had ordered lamb henry!!! how long does he think that will take? would he have been happier to spend 20 on something out of the back of a Brake Bros van that just had to be microwaved.

Anyway i digress, tomatoes and basil out of the green house, buffalo mozarella out of the deli and balsamic out of my cupboard, perfect summer light lunch, so nice and simple for me

Gordon Ramsay seems to be trying to convince people that you can put quality, tasty food on the table which is simple to prepare from fresh ingredients. It just seems that people are totally unprepared for the hard work it takes to get it right. The caf-bar last night was an example of a restaurateur who couldnt see what the market wanted; quick, tasty lunches from a classic, limited menu. The chef had become complacent, as he appeared to have a decent background in the kitchen. I wouldnt say he was overqualified to be working in that place, as I doubt that Belgo and Planet Hollywood use exclusively fresh ingredients, prepared from scratch.

It's a shame I missed it. The place in question was local to me and I've eaten fairly nondescript meals there before.

I thought the highlight was when the chef was under loads of pressure, the sh*t was truelly hitting the fan and he announced to everyone that he had had enough and was having a cigarette break!!!!!
