Have just bottled some Beaverdale Chardonay, Instantly pleasant to drink

If you want to create a quick cellar to give you something to drink in the long patient wait for the Country wines, I'd recommend these kits, they do a large range red and white

I've never used a kit. Often looked at them in the shop, but I've never taken the plunge. Are they worth the cost? Is the result much better than, say, a blend of apple juice and grape juice in a wine?

Better? possibly even probably with a good kit.

Quicker? definatly, whilst the kits are a bit optimistic in their claims, you can be drinking the wine in a month quite easily.

I tried a few Supermarket kits earlier in the year but was disappointed. I then discovered the local homebrew shop and paid a bit more and was very impressed. It was Beaverdale that they recommended and it was worth the extra cash.

Tried the Rioja and Zinnfandel (sp). Both very good for kits.

When they say Chardonnay or Zinfandel, are you actually geting concentrate from those grapes? Or does the tin say something like 'makes xlitres of chardonnay-style white wine'. I'm not saying that would be a terible thing, I just wondered.

You are getting the actual grave variety and you do not need to add suger.

Hence all this is really is grape concentrate from high quaility grapes.

This is the difference between a cheap kit and a kit what will make a really good wine.

Beaverdale kits claim that from starting the kit to drinking can be as little as 1 month, 6 weeks is certainly realistic.

I think I said you could do them okay in a month earlier, but I was missing a stage out.

If it is ready that quick, how long does it last or does that not matter

Has anyone tried a Saturnes kit? I've seen a 'Choice' 6 bottle sixe that seems worth a go. I would like to give it a go but would it be worth it?
