Ziggy
We were at Padstow yesterday at 1pm and the tide was well out....there were loads of shoals of small fish all swimming in tight balls - brown on top but silvery on sides. John thought they might be pilchards....
thought of you.
We are trying to arrange a fishing trip from Boscastle next week - take the kids for 2 hrs. (and fill the freezer)

Ooo, sounds like Sprats, about 4 inches long ? Pilchards/Sardines are about 8 to 10 inches usually.

Probably Sardines then, we catch them on feathers along the Chesil.

Good luck with the fishing trip, good time of year for it.
