I need a replacement chain for mine. Can't seem to work out how long the bar is. (It's 16.5" long, but that's not how they're measured, apparently) I'm reckoning it's a 14" bar, and it has the part number 530044686 on it, as well as 14 91-52 6P. Is this latter telling me it's 14 inches? Husqvarana 240e, if it matters.

Save all the hassle,take your saw into the local sellers,they`ll have chain on reels,they`ll cut and crimp it there for you.

I've been buying chains off eBay. Seem good enough. Any seller worth your custom should be able to get it right if you tell them the saw & bar. Or you could just count the drive links.

I have sorted it, and bought a couple from eBay. My local seller is Countrywide, who only stock expensive stuff, which is no better than the cheap. The old one became damaged on loan. But, it had done a fair amount, so I'm relaxed about it.

By local seller i meant,Agri Dealer/machinery/mechanic etc There used to be a Price Tools shop in Hereford,quality at hard to beat prices.

That is a thing that very often cannot be helped... like a puncture on a bicycle.

The chain on a chainsaw is, just like the fuel & oil, a consumable.

I loaned it to someone I shouldn't have done. I knew this at the time. I offered ppe, which was declined. In any event the job was done, no one got hurt and the chain came off, too loose, and has become to mangled to be worth repairing (�8 for a new one). And, in return I have a new friend with useful skills.
