Interesting concept. Green manures are an excellent idea for many reasons. This sounds like a good way to manage larger acreages.

however it is delivered green manure cover plants are a sensible idea between arable crops

Does seem like a good idea. If they sow corn though the crop it will also prevent the risk of soil erosion while the corn gets established, if that is possible of course. It may be too much competition for the corn, but it is a matter of concern in the UK, so must be in the US too.

I am trying a green manure on some of my beds during the autumn at least. I am going to add some charcoal fines when I dig it in hoping to hold on to any nitrogen fixed by the plants.
