Does anyone know if there is any way of preventing a tree from getting infected? I've an ash I'm especially fond of, which I would be really sorry to lose. Even it's not cost effective for the likes of the Forestry Commision, I'd like to give it a go for my tree.

I don't think there is. I went to a talk by the man who runs the estate for our local landed gentry and he was very much full of doom and gloom

all i can think of is feed it with say seaweed tea or dilute mixture to boost it's health in case it is short of trace elements etc and hope for the best. if you do feed you need to cover an area at least as big as the crown

i spose you could fell and burn every other ash within a couple of hundred miles to give a quarantine zone but that is probably a waste of time and might take out the few resistant ones that can be used to repopulate the losses.

I think there is a way of treating individual trees, but can't remember what it is or where I saw it. It isn't mainstream science, so may not work too well, but think someone had idea about treating them with something to make them resistant.
