Praised by many members in this thread as an excellent book for beginners, possibly the best.
Other books worth mentioning:
Antonio Carluccio Goes Wild, by Antonio Carluccio. Excellent pictures, pleasant read, very nice recipes.
The Complete Mushroom, by Antonio Carluccio. With lots of interesting recipes and an introduction to cultivation.
Encyclopedia of Fungi of Britain and Europe, by Michael Jordan. A bit dry and frankly boring read, but authoritative and with all pictures taken in situ.
