OK so left it a bit late again....
I have a 4lb piece of pork belly to cook for dinner. So according to my instructions that's 30 mins per pound plus 35 mins - 2 hours 35.

The boiler is made of steel and easily weldable. I would fill with dry sand afterwards. I would be worth stripping down to component parts clean off the rust and replacing the firerope.
