thats what I think I'll do. trouble is they will "exchange only" for the same machine so I'll need to try and prevent the same problem.

You need to make sure it's real turpentine, not substitute, though. Also it helps to add a few drops of essential oil, lemon is god, just to mask the turps smell a bit.

seems you can replace everything but the main board for less than a tenner a time and after taking it apart once I think its more difficult to tag a ewe than change the parts
