Is peppermint essential oil (for burners and what have you) the same as the peppermint essence you might use in cooking?

There's a WI recipe for doing it in the microwave - it's the best I've had (better than bought; better than the lady at our local farmers' market ) - it stays really fresh-tasting.

Has anybody managed to grow shiso with any success? I just don't seem to be able to persuade it to germinate - have tried 3 times this year already. Is there a trick?
