had a good look round the old health food shop at the weekend and in an effort to cook something else than spuds, pasta or rice, got a bag of wheat grains ( sometimes called wheat berries)
Aren't they nice? Made a sort of pilaf with them last night with onions, mushrooms, olives, baby toms and cashew nuts in it.
Have also bought a bag of pearl barley to try as well. Have used millet in the past but found it a bit stodgy.
My better half makes the cous cous. It's always really nice, but I haven't the faintest idea what it is.

It isn't really a grain, though it is made from it. Really it's like a tiny tiny ball of pasta. It can be made from wheat, barley, maize, millet or acorns(apparently).
