We're going to be moving the chickens up to the field. At the moment, the boundary fencing along the road is wooden with 3 rails and has stock fencing nailed to it, but it's only about 3-4 feet high. Because I don't want the girls to get out onto the road, how can we increase the height? New tall posts attached to the existing posts with chicken wire?

I did something similar when we lived in the house with the field that sloped down towards the fence and gave them a run-up. I think I used two by one and screwed it on to the existing fence posts. And then staple gunned wide-mesh chicken wire to it. I did two feet I think. If it's quite floppy it discourages them from trying to perch on it, too.

Probably beyond our budget.

Chez, I think that's what we'll do. We already have a roll of chicken wire and Rob found some 2x1 at his mums.
