I doubt it, the government over here is more likely to insist that we collect rainwater.

You can make anything sound plausible by prefixing it with "In America..."

They do have many bizarre regs. In most places drying your washing on a line is prohibited and you are expected to use a tumble dryer. This came about due to popular demand as it was seen as working class and affected property values. Mind you I've got mates in California and it's a regulation in their town that everyone has to grow a tree in their front garden to provide shade.

It would be interesting to know all the facts of the case.

The article blowtop referred in the opening post was published in 2010, and the Oregon law dates back to 1925. The chap in the article linked above was apparently jailed for 30 days in August 2012.

All sounds a bit "only in America" to me.
