As you say, PTFE isn't 'green', but the results are.

I'm in the midsts of trying to help farmers with PFAS contamination. Problematic issues are arising at contamination in the PPT range.......

as part of a coating mix, it will end up somewhere if it does not stay on a forever building

The Holy Grail of any polymer production is that it does its job, is stable when needed but breaks down into non-toxic by-products and ideally isn't based on fossil fuels. Of course during production it has to be stable, not use or produce toxic or otherwise dangerous by-products etc. So far, I don't think there are many that have achieved it.

ptfe and its family fail that on most metrics

That's the problem. Is it better to save on a lot of electricity and use something containing PTFE, or use PTFE. The plus with this stuff is that it seems pretty well infinitely reuseable.
