Anybody into flytying here?

It's a wonderful and ancient art, and here's the ideal place to swap hints, tips, ideas and materials and show off your latest creations!

Do fly tiers often need many bits 'n pieces? There's plent of people who have poultry of various sorts and if there's any feathers that are useful I'm sure something could be arranged.

I think I need to learn fly fishing first

DS,
I'm into fly tying. In fact with a young family etc. I get more tying done than fishing
I put a lenghty post on RC forums a few months ago about useful feathers, but darned if I can find it on there now? Do old threads
get scrapped after a while???
Can you find it?

Well I opened my big mouth, so I suppose it's another on the 'to do' list.

I would like to tie fly's but have never been quick enough to catch one alive without squishing it
Groan ok i'll leave the room lol.

No, on a serious note, i used to tie them even before i started fly fishing, found it a very relaxing pastime. My 11 yr old son now wants to have a go, so i am looking for all my old bits n bobs.. he already fishes better then me so might as well give him the lot !!!
