ï¿½800 per person it is. We go out with Alan Myers (gunsmith and goose guide) and have access to the best shooting in Scotland. We have sat in hides and watched 65,000 pinkfeet get off the resivoir 1 mile away from us. Some may not like it but we shoot bags off upto 80 sometimes between 6 guns. We also flight under the moon. As i said not everyones cup of tea.

I thought pink feet were protected.
Geese here are an agricultural pest, they are greylag and as well as having a resident population we also get migrants.
I am not a believer in mass slaughter, its not big and its certainly not clever, even if where we are they are a pest - only what is to be used should be taken.
There are lots of places in Scotland that have great goose shooting so dont for a minute think you are exclusive - just expensive!! like I say we can offer your equal , without mass slaughter for the price of what you charge for one person.

I've shot Pink Feet in Newton Stewart, although not for a few years. You get loads coming into the stubble at first light. I don't have problems shooting the numbers as long as it's sustainable and the meat is utilised (as with all things really) As I only get to shoot geese once every other year I'd take what i could and freeze it or share it around.

As far as I'm concerned, I do have doubts about big bag big money shooting. This I think, is the Achilles heel of all shooting sports!

Legion, perhaps you should look at a book to see what quarry you can shoot. Pinkfeet are certainly not protected.

ï¿½800 it is for 4 days. Yes it is a lot but it is damn good shooting, includes walked up grouse, rabbits etc. Also it includes a shooting lodge and a 1st class chef!

Yes 13 geese per person is a lot, BUT when a farmer has 10,000 eating his beet or other crops he cannot afford to lose ï¿½100's a day. Is shooting the large amount of geese once better than going out lots of times shooting 2 or 3 ? Certainly less disturbance for them and as i said before the farmers wont tolerate the damage.

I have sat in a hide and watched 60,000 pinkfeet get of a loch near where we have been shooting.
We take the total bag to a game dealer near where we shoot and he prepares them , all done ready to cook and for that we pay nought but he keeps half. They are all eaten.

sam f It's against the law to sell geese so what does you game dealer want with half of them (40) One of the reasons that it is against the law geese are stupid and you can shoot large numbers at a time as you proved and if they could be legally sold there would be very few left in a couple of years Raydon
