What can I do with a marble fireplace hearth?

Scrounged one yesterday, but it is a bit to heavy for my idea Nice bit of marble, crying out for an inventive use.

if its marble strips try using them as pantry shelves (if you've a pantry) its amazing how cold marble and slate keeps things.

And fudge can be, too, I believe.

Seriously, if you can't pass it on to someone else, would it be worth seeing if it can be cut up by someone who knows what they're doing (not that you don't but I imagine you could easily make mistakes with marble).

I wonder if it would be appropriate for food use. Might ask on a cookery forum later.

You could set it into one of your worktops as a pastry-working area. Or as suggested get it cut into smaller sections, a monumental masons would probably do it if you asked them nicely.

Always amuses me, that phrase. It give the impression of some 20 feet tall masons.

Not exactly set in, but have certainly put it on a worktop. Covers more of a horrible tiled work surface Why use small tiles as a kitchen work surface
