For those on a tight budget, who don't buy their baking ingredients from anywhere small / local,

Tesco have a '3 for 2' offer on most of the stuff you need for Xmas and winter baking, such as most flours, marzipan, dried fruit of all kinds, cherries, baking powder, yeast, golden syrup, black treacle, etc etc'.

And the same offer on things you spread on bread, like Marmite, peanut butter, and honey.

Seems to apply to most types/brands, including the economy stuff.

Thanks gil, I'd already seen that, but didn't think to mention it. I intend to do a big stock-up as soon as I get a till spit with �x off if you spend �x... I use a LOT of ground almonds and walnuts and baking ingredients keep well! Sainsbury's has 3for2 on spices and herbs at the moment and President butter is 2 for �2.

Did you notice the price hike on their white bread flour? It was 69p for a 1.5k bag before the 3 for 2 offer, then it jumped up to �1.29!

Sainsburys has gone from 69 to 99 ( I think) the self raising flour etc have gone up even more - waitrose has also gone from 89 to 1.29 - the price of wheat is filtering down now but it's still much cheaper than buying the bread

Though interstingly the price of their organic flour hasn't risen nearly as much.

Same with Tesco's wholemeal bread flour. That's only gone up by 6p to �1.05

Be carefull with this offer as it is the chespest item free, I got 3 things at �2 and 3 things at �1 and they took off 2 x �1

Have had that happen to me before, too.

Careful arrangement of goods on the moving belt is the key... 3@�2 in a group... then some shopping at ordinary prices.... then 3@�1.
Is how I always work it, anyway.

Offer seems to have finished now.

That doesn't work as the deduction is made when the till is doing it's total.

You have to do a stealth move like EV does Put one lot through and pay, then do the second lot as a seperate transaction. LOL! KAte

Not worthy

BTW has anyone else figured that if you trade in your Tesco's vouchers for their current 'double up' promotion on their 'finest wine' that they have a small selection of bottles on a 2 for �10 deal ATM (�6.99 - �8.99 each usually) So basically for a tenners worth of vouchers you can get four bottles of decent wine (�2.50 each!) ALSO if you buy more than 6 bottles you will get the 5% discount too.....

Worth a look if you are a wine drinker, I dismissed it as not being worth it, until I checked to see if they had any deals

So Kate. As we're going to be in your neck of the woods for a holiday soon, you're going to have to arm me with a list of places to go where I might get a bargain or three.

I'll have a couple of days of exploring solo while vegplot is blacksmithing, so the sort of thing that I can do on my tod with no one to embarrass would be great

Any suggestion for things to do in the area would be most welcome too. We intend to do some coast walks but anything unusual and off the normal touristy trail would be of interest.
