Asda has sparked a War Of The Roses by slashing the price of a dozen red blooms to just �2 - an all time low for Valentine's Day.
Asda flower buyers Liz Butcher: �We want Cupid's arrow to hit your heart, not your wallet.

�We're making falling in love cheaper than ever before.� Asda has also reduced dramatically the price of other formal Valentine's Day bouquets, saving customers up to �30 each compared with other retailers. All of the blooms come from ethically approved sources in Kenya and Uganda.

And for the first time, the range will also include rare Grand Gala roses from India - the first time they have been stocked by any major UK retailer.

Yeah, I've had about 150 emails over the last couple of weeks from T**co Direct advertising the fact that if you buy your bouquet of cliches from them you will also get clubcard points for yourself

Had a lovely bucket from the OH this morning - the individual flowers chosen and put together by him, and then wrapped and hand tied by him too - far far better than anything you could buy from a shop (I got seduced by an heart shaped cooking thing, so we're going to have heart shaped eggs and pancakes and things this evening )

Only in Australia a clinic is offering Valentines day vasectomies, the sales pitch, it's a snip at these prices, well I suppose that is romantic to an Australian.

If you are suggesting that chocolates are more ethical, I remind you that chocolate doesn't grow in this country at all. So even if it's made into heart-shaped pralines here the ingredients have a few food-miles attached
