@ chez : just as well you didn;t make my recipe, because it turns out cake-like, and you cut it in squares.

Gingerbread that you can also cut into shapes and hang on the tree sounds much more useful.

Until I got to the pics I thought it was all this year! We use Sarah Raven's recipe, which has I think ground almonds and hazelnuts in. It’s yummy but the children go nuts with the icing, and they get too heavy to hang on the tree. They do make good houses, though.

I had a siezure, so Bibbster made them with them yesterday afternoon - I will take a pic of children and biscuits when they get back from school.
