A square hay bale off farm mid 1970's was 75p, so 7.50 from a retail shop is cheaper in real terms today

Sold some cattle friday, and the buyer also buy`s and sells Hay and Straw,he had heard that Silage bales from Wales are going up to Kent for 65 a bale.

Going to be an expensive winter if one has to buy in fodder.

I have got a regular supply in Devon for big square haylage - and I mean big - for 30 bale.

I have heard about the extortionate prices being charged elsewhere, but without knowing the weather conditions for any particular area, it is a difficult one to judge on pricing. Some areas just don't grow large amounts of grass !

5.50 for a small bale here. It used to be 5 but they have also put up their straw to 2.50 a bale and their hay to 3 a bale.

My neighbour's going for a second cut of silage by the looks of it - he very rarely does that.
