Just for fun this one, found on a bank at the side of the road, under a small beach tree I think. Looks past it to try so we left it be, but is it a hen-of-the-woods or a giant polypore? It was at least two foot across and then some.

I saw 3 just like that while out this morning. Again at the foot of a beech and a good foot across each. Will try to post picture when I get round to it. I was going to ask what it was.

I'd say giant polypore - hen of the woods is a bit 'greyer' I think. I don't find it that frequently here though.

Nope, hen is Grifola frondosa and chicken is Laetiporus sulphureus I think hedgehogpie might be right although the age of the specimen is making a positive id a bit tricky.
